The Minnesota Star Tribune has reported Larry Brown–following Don Nelson and Rick Adelman–as being next in line to interview with the Timberwolves for their head coaching vacancy–thank you David Khan. http://www.startribune.com/sports/wolves/126096993.html
Quick Analysis: Consider this David Kahn’s continued attempt to appear more important than he really is. Don’t be fooled, these names aren’t really as big as they seem. Nelson and Brown are lifers. Nelson would take a job at a snow cone shack with a picture of a basketball on the side if it was offered to him, and Brown just wanders around the NBA like he’s lost his wallet, but isn’t sure where. He’ll resign at the least expected time, then show up the next season coaching a team nobody ever expected. Long story short, David Kahn is reveling in this little “interview” process. It’s the only time besides the draft when he gets to pretend his team is anything but a doormat.
Anyway, analysis: Not too long ago I stated that Don Nelson and Minnesota was a done deal, and I’m not going to back down from it. Kahn wants flash, and Brown is a hip Jerry Sloan at best. Nelson wants to run, which will make Kahn clap his hands and jump up and down in his suite. So you do the math.
