Tom Ziller of Sactownroyalty.com has reported the Kings may face a fine for Jimmer Fredette providing an interview with Grant Napear, the team’s play-by-play guy, as well as local radio host. There are pictures of Jimmer sitting at the dude’s interview table wearing a headset, that Napear HIMESELF posted on his radio show’s facebook page, with the caption: “He who shall not be named.” — http://www.sactownroyalty.com/2011/7/28/2300067/sacramento-kings-nba-lockout-fine-grant-napear-jimmer-fredette
Quick Analysis: That caption basically says it all. If I’m the Kings and I get fined a million bucks for that, I’m getting someone else to do my play-by-play, that is if he’s even my employee to begin with. The notion that Napear didn’t know the rule is absurd. The caption on the picture all but dares the NBA to hit the Kings with the fine. And this just in, the Kings are the last team in the NBA who can afford to pay such a fine.
Today’s Sac Bee is reporting the city is considering renting out its arena’s rooftop to telecommunication companies in order to raise funds for a new arena. Talk about scraping the bottom of the barrel. You’re gonna rent out your rooftop? You may as well turn the buildings exterior into one big climbing wall while you’re at it. Yeah? Charge a couple bucks for some rental shoes and hand chalk. The rooftop? Sweet merciful. I do love KJ as much as anyone, and his effort here is heroic, but something in me just doesn’t see the Kings staying in Sac-town.
