To our delight–as we at lowertherim are some of Jimmer’s biggest skeptics, even HATERS!– the Bleacher Report‘s Brian West has given the Jim-Jim lovers something to cry about, suggesting Jimmer will most likely hurt the Kings more than he’ll help.
Quick Analysis: At lowertherim we of course love this, as it validates what we have been preaching, and suggesting in “A Bomber Without Stealth“. Really, truly, where does Jimmer fit into this team? And as a one trick pony in college, how will he contribute when there are already 3 official ball stoppers on that team? Make that 4 with Salmons. That Marcus Thornton is likely to be the odd man out is a crime.
But we’ve said it before, the move to draft Jimmer was never a move meant to better the team. It was a move to save the franchise in Sacramento. That the season ticket sales reportedly skyrocketed post-draft is no coincidence. Backs up against the wall, the Maloof brothers knew what they had to do. So let’s call it what it is: the team will NOT be better because of Jimmer, but the franchise might be saved as far as Sacramento goes. With that said, I will be stunned if Marcus Thornton, or even John Salmons are still with the team by the end of next season. Something’s got to give, and it’s not going to be Fredette, the guy who’s essentially bank rolling the franchise now.
But it’s worth asking the readers:
