We hate to say we told you so, but Jimmer Fredette looks to be right on the Adam Morrison NBA track, and quite frankly, has Morrison beat at the moment. In a recent interview with ESPN, Jimmer stated that he would like to be a Deron Williams-like point guard in the NBA. Good luck kid. First let’s try doing what you were drafted too high to do: shoot the ball.
He’s shooting 33% on the season. Not a bad number for Greg Ostertag, but an absolute embarrassment for the type of game Jimmer is supposed to bring to the table. What’s worse, his claim to fame is the long ball, which he happens to be shooting at a 28% clip. I think if Dennis Rodman punted the ball from half court every time down the floor, he’d shoot a better percentage. The kid ranks 109th from range thus far, and it’s safe to say he’s not working against any double teams.
And over the last five games, it only has gotten worse. Playing lessening minutes, Jim-Jim has shot 24% from the field, and 18% from “Jimmer Range”. Dreadful.
16 games isn’t a ton of games, certainly not enough to deliver a final verdict on this guy, but it’s a decent chunk of data to go off of. If things continue this way, Jimmer Fans, your big-jawed boy is going to be suiting up for the Reno Big Horns. And we hate to remind you, we said it here first.
