Just a few weeks ago the Jazz afforded us all a brief moment to bathe in the moonlight, as Utah found itself #2 in the west. But being that we at LowerTheRim harbor habitual negative spirits–particularly in regards to the Jazz–we warned: This will not last. And here we are not two weeks later with our beloved Spazz staring down the barrel of what appears to be an inevitable sub .500 record come the Allstar Break.
It was all too good to be true, really, because we all know the Jazz have played as many or more home games than anyone up until this recent road trip, and we all know they suck miserably away from Salt Lake. So if you just look at the schedule, it’s not rocket science. For the next 8 games the schedule is as follows:
Home against OKC: Loss–The Thunder look like they might lose against Golden State tonight. Don’t count on them playing two bad games in a row.
At Memphis: Loss–probably.
At New Orleans: Win — And yet, with the Jazz on the road, you never know.
At OKC: Loss
Home to the Wiz-Kids: Win — If they lose this game I’m switching to the Bobcats.
At Houston: Loss — Yes. Houston is a decent team.
Home to San Antonio: — Loss
At Minnesota: Loss — By this point the Jazz will be begging for the break, while Minnesota will still be on the upswing.
A 13-11 record becomes a 15-17 record. And from there we’ll be sprinting for the ping pong balls. Stop looking the other way, Jazz fans. It’s not just a possibility, it’s highly probable. Start scouting college backcourts; we need a freakin’ guard.
